Dr. Hashem Barakat is a Consultant in Vascular Surgery and Peripheral Catheterization. Dr. Hashem holds: • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). • PhD from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. • Postgraduate certificate in Scientific Research. • Vascular Surgery Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in London. • British Board Certification in Vascular Surgery. • Jordanian Board Certification in Vascular Surgery. Dr. Hashem Barakat has an extensive experience over 17 years in vascular surgery, gained through training and work in several renowned centers and hospitals across the United Kingdom. He began his professional career by completing the Basic Surgical Training Program in Yorkshire, Northern England. He then joined a vascular surgery research program at the University of Hull, where he earned the prestigious Sol Cohen Award from the British Society of Vascular Surgery in 2014 and completed his PhD thesis with distinction in 2015. Dr. Hashem has joined the Royal College of Surgeons’ accredited training program in vascular surgery and peripheral catheterization, successfully completing his training in 2022. He also pursued a subspecialty in surgical and catheter-based interventions for revascularization and limb salvage, as well as specialized care for diabetic foot conditions. Dr. Hashem Barakat specializes in the following treatments: • Treatment of varicose veins using the latest techniques. • Management and treatment of diabetic foot problems. • Treatment of peripheral arterial disease caused by clots or atherosclerosis. • Management of aortic diseases such as aneurysms. • Treatment of leg swelling, lipedema, and lymphedema. • Treatment of chronic and non-healing wounds in the limbs. • Surgical creation of dialysis access (fistulas and catheters). • Carotid artery surgery to prevent strokes and transient ischemic attacks. • Management of vascular injuries resulting from trauma. • Surgical treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome. • Treatment of acute and chronic venous thrombosis and pelvic vein issues.
